SOSlog is a community protection platform committed to accessible safety tools for everyone — regardless of income, location, or resources. We believe that people living in fear deserve to be heard, believed, and protected. Too often, those without legal counsel, financial means, or institutional support have no way to establish a documented record before something happens.

SOSlog exists to change that. By providing a structured, timestamped, and encrypted registry that individuals control, we give vulnerable people the same evidentiary foundation that was previously only available to those who could afford it. Every record submitted is a voice that deserves to be preserved — and potentially the evidence that saves a life.

We donate 10% of all subscription revenue to domestic violence, anti-stalking, and community safety organizations globally.

Public / Private Key Encryption ⚙ In Development

Every user will receive a cryptographic keypair on signup. Records are encrypted with your public key and can only be decrypted by you — or by law enforcement using an authorized enterprise key. SOSlog uses Firebase for encrypted cloud storage. This is the same SSH-style encryption used by governments and financial institutions.

Terms of Service & Privacy Policy

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using SOSlog ("the Platform," "we," "us"), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and SOSlog LLC.

2. Platform Purpose & Limitations

SOSlog provides a digital documentation tool for individuals to record personal safety concerns. SOSlog is not a law enforcement agency, legal counsel, emergency service, or crisis intervention service. Records submitted to SOSlog do not automatically notify any authority. If you are in immediate danger, call 911 (US) or your local emergency number immediately.

SOSlog does not guarantee any legal outcome, investigation, or protective action as a result of records submitted to the Platform.

3. User Responsibilities & Acceptable Use

You agree to:

  • Submit only records based on your direct, factual knowledge and experience
  • Not use the Platform to harass, defame, stalk, or target individuals maliciously
  • Not submit knowingly false, fabricated, or misleading information
  • Not use the Platform for debt collection, employment screening, or tenant screening (FCRA-regulated activities)
  • Not submit records with the intent to extort, intimidate, or coerce another person
  • Comply with all applicable local, state, federal, and international laws

Violation of these terms may result in immediate account termination and may be reported to law enforcement.

4. Personally Identifiable Information (PII) — Risk Disclosure

You understand and acknowledge the following PII risks:

  • Records you submit may contain information about third parties. You are responsible for ensuring your submission is factual and not defamatory.
  • SOSlog stores data in encrypted form. However, no digital system is 100% immune to security breaches. In the event of a breach, SOSlog will notify affected users as required by applicable law.
  • Individual subscribers may only access their own records. Enterprise subscribers may access the full database subject to verified authorization.
  • You should not include Social Security Numbers, financial account numbers, government ID numbers, or medical records in your submissions. SOSlog is not designed to store regulated PII categories.
  • Records you submit about third parties may constitute personal data under GDPR (EU), CCPA (California), or other applicable privacy laws. You bear responsibility for compliance with applicable law in your jurisdiction.

5. Data Sharing with Law Enforcement

SOSlog may share your records with law enforcement agencies under the following circumstances:

  • Enterprise Access: Verified law enforcement agencies with an active Enterprise subscription may search and access records using an authorized cryptographic keypair. Access is logged and audited.
  • Legal Compulsion: SOSlog will comply with valid court orders, subpoenas, warrants, or other legally compelled disclosures. We will attempt to notify you prior to disclosure unless prohibited by law.
  • Imminent Danger: If SOSlog reasonably believes disclosure is necessary to prevent imminent harm to you or another person, we may share relevant information with appropriate authorities without prior notice.
  • Platform Integrity: SOSlog may share records with law enforcement if we have credible reason to believe the Platform is being used for criminal purposes.

SOSlog does not sell your data to third parties, advertisers, or data brokers under any circumstances.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Your records are retained for as long as your account is active. Upon account cancellation, your records are deleted within 90 days unless subject to a legal hold. You may request deletion of your records at any time by contacting support@soslog.org. We will process deletion requests within 30 days where not legally prevented.

Enterprise-accessed records may be retained in law enforcement custody subject to their own retention policies, which are outside SOSlog's control.

7. Right to Remove Records About You

If you believe a record has been submitted about you that is false, defamatory, or submitted in violation of these Terms, you may submit a removal request to legal@soslog.org with your full name, the alleged record details, and a sworn statement that the information is false or improperly submitted. SOSlog will review and respond within 30 days. We are not obligated to remove records that appear to constitute legitimate, good-faith safety documentation.

8. Subscription, Billing & Refunds

Subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. SOSlog does not offer refunds for partial months. Free Tier (Tier 4) accounts are subject to a 10-record-per-month cap and may be subject to additional verification requirements.

9. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

SOSlog is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, SOSlog LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of the Platform, including but not limited to emotional distress, loss of data, or failure of a legal proceeding.

SOSlog does not guarantee that any record will be reviewed, acted upon, or preserved in a form admissible in legal proceedings. Users are strongly encouraged to consult an attorney regarding their specific legal situation.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Tarrant County, Texas.
